Wedding Hair + These Views

Can we just talk about these views and Brooke’s wedding hair?! Jordan and Brooke tied the knot at one of the prettiest venues I have ever been to! They said their vows midday in front of a stunning Cross located on a hill overlooking Boone’s beautiful mountain tops. While everyone was getting their hair and makeup done the clouds rolled in and rain began to come down. It rained and rained but, we all had hope and faith the rain would hold off for these two to say ‘I do’…and just before the ceremony was to start, the clouds parted and the sun came out!

For Brooke’s bridal hair she wanted to keep her wedding hair soft and romantic. The hairstyles Brooke loved were ones that did not look overdone or too stiff. We decided to create this romantic, bridal hairstyle, by placing her low bun to the side, while keeping the front of her face soft by pulling down hair towards her face. It was exactly what she wanted and I am so blessed to have been a part of her big day!

A few months ago I was approached by Lauren of Southern Savvy Events to collaborate on a very special project. If you look around Charlotte you will see tons of beautiful old buildings that are being torn down to rebuild apartments for the quickly growing metropolitan. In the heart of downtown Charlotte there is a stunning building called, The GoodYear Building. The GoodYear Building oringally served as an automative service center and for the day of our styled shoot it was our stunning yet edgy backdrop!

The idea behind this styled shoot was to put an edgy twist on a timeless wedding and snap a piece of history! As a wedding hairstylist it gave me the freedom to breakout of the mold of doing ‘traditional wedding hairstyles’ in exchange for a modern updo. When I met our model Alyssa the first thing she mentioned was how much she loved a fishtail braid and she instantly spoke to my heart. For Alyssa’s wedding hairstyle we decided to do a loose, textured, updo with a fishtail going down the back. This hairstyle is simple, elegant, yet edgy! I could not be more proud or excited to show you this incredible collaboration and the piece of history we captured!

AND P.S. This shoot was so amazing Fab You Bliss decided to feature us on their website!

In honor of this beauty getting married this weekend I wanted to share Isla and Wesley’s AMAZING engagement sesh! Isla is so stunning and I am in awe of her long, luxurious, locks! For her engagement pictures we kept her hair soft and romantic by creating beautiful, loose, waves. To add a polished look to her hairstyle we pinned one side back to create more of a ‘formal do’. This weekend I will be hitting the road and heading to Pinehurst, NC. Isla and Wesley will be getting married at the Member’s Club of Pinehurst Resort on 10/15/2015 and I couldn’t be more excited!

Sometimes you just meet those people in life who you instantly click with and feel like you have known your whole life and my bride, Mary Ann, was one of them! From the first email I received from her I knew we would become gal pals and that her wedding was going to be spectacular. When Mary Ann hired me to be her wedding hairstylist she already had in mind the updo she wanted and I couldn’t have been more excited! You see Mary Ann is a wild card… She has to be the sweetest person I have ever met.. she is genuine… she is classy… but, she has this wild sassy side that makes her even more intriguing and lovable! After chatting a bit she really wanted her hair to reflect her personality-so what did we do?! We created a bun that was timeless, classy, and most of all.. SASSY. Her bun had tons of texture and volume while still embracing the romantic element she was going for. I have to admit… this was one of my favorite hairstyles to date!

A big shout out to Erica for referring me because this was a wedding that went down in the books! Thank you so much Beautiful Mess Photography for sending me these photos:)

What a beautiful day spent in the wonderful land of Charleston, SC with this Australian beauty! Casey Hendrickson and I hopped in the car and drove down to shoot this lovely lady for her bridal portraits all around Charleston. Being a southern gal from Myrtle Beach, SC., this brought me back to my roots and needless to say, became one of my favorite shoots! When doing her bridal hair and makeup I really focused on bringing out her eye color by using purple hues and of course *lashes*. Katie has long locks and to keep them out of her face for the whole day we swept her hair back, added lite volume to the front and crown area, and made what I like to call a ‘croissant style bun’. Yes, I call it a croissant bun and you can see why 🙂 And a big thanks to Casey who did an incredible job on the photography!
